I love the Rocky Mountains. I was born in Colorado and have lived most of my life in CO. I love the 300 days of sunshine. The mild weather (I lived on the front range, i.e. the east side of the mountains.) I loved that any day of the year it can be 60 degrees...and the possibility that any day of the year it can snow. I loved the fact that when it did snow, it was unusual for it to stay on the ground for more than a day or two.
So it was very strange when I began to have the feeling come over me...I think it started when I saw
the pines dressed in silver laced moss. Even the deciduous trees had a permanent "icing" of silver. Or maybe it was watching the sand trails on the beach. Or driving through the Columbia Gorge, or walking through the John Day Fossil beds or spending the night boondocking in the Malhuer Forest..Anyway it happened! I fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. I think we could travel in this area for 6 months straight (with and without the horses) and never run out of things to do, places to see, and people to meet...not to mention the friends and family I already seem to have here!
How can it be?! I have always hated cloudy weather! I'm not crazy about rain unless it only lasts for 20 minutes. I have a history of suffering from S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) And yet over the last few days it has been confirmed again and again. I step out of the motor home into the Oregon misty rain...and I smile!
Yesterday, Dave and I were walking down to the beach in a real rain (at Cape Lookout) and my heart and mind were singing: Walking in the rain with the one I love!
My Three Loves: Jesus, Dave and the Pacific Northwest!
